Authorities were searching Monday evening for a fugitive they considered armed and dangerous.
Pike County Sheriff Stephen Korte told the Courier-Post that 43-year-old John Wayne Bailey allegedly fired a shotgun inside his home a half-mile south of Frankford about 4 a.m. Monday.
Korte said Bailey apparently got into an argument with his wife, Connie. A girl authorities identified as a juvenile daughter of the couple called 911. A dispatcher reported the caller said the suspect was trying to kill them and said he fired a shotgun in the air.
A deputy arriving at the scene got Connie Bailey and two children out unharmed. Pike County authorities surrounded the house and checked outbuildings, but did not find John Bailey.
A SWAT team from the Missouri Highway Patrol in Weldon Spring was called in and authorities raided the house around 6:30 a.m. It was abandoned.
A description of Bailey was not immediately available, but a driver's license photo showed he is a white male with shoulder-length brown hair, a moustache and a goatee. Authorities urged people with information to call the Pike County Sheriff’s Department at (573) 324-3202 or CrimeStoppers at 1-888-324-0911.
