The path chosen for the proposed Hannibal Expressway will determine if Joni Karr will have to one day give up her home. While she came to an update meeting hosted by the Missouri Department of Transportation on Tuesday night hoping to gain some insight as to which route will be chosen, Karr left without a clear answer.
“I feel in limbo because I’m not sure which path they’re going to choose,” she said, noting that her home sits in the path of the Trabue, or northern route. “It’s my dream home. I’d like to know if I can live there another 20 years or if I have to look for a new home.”
Karr is not fretting over which path that MoDOT will chose for the expressway.
“There’s nothing really I can do to prevent it from happening,” she said.
Kevin Cain, whose interest in the project is focused on where the northern end of the route comes out, appreciated MoDOT providing an opportunity for people to learn more about the project.
“I heard some new information. I didn’t know the project was ranked 13th in the state,” he said. “Now I have an idea of how far down the road it realistically is.”
