Missouri Department of Transportation has plenty of experience when it comes to making busy crossroads safe. But the state agency has no experience dealing with the financial “crossroad” it is rapidly approaching.
During MoDOT’s annual update meeting for the Northeast District, Paula Gough, district engineer, told those gathered at the Palmyra State Bank in Palmyra that finding a solution is “not up to us.” Instead, Gough said the direction MoDOT takes in the future is up to federal and state lawmakers, and to an extent the public.
“We’ll just continue to do the best job we can with the resources we have,” she said.
