The Hannibal public schools' annual Pirate Pride Challenge, a 5K run/5K walk, will take place on Saturday, Oct. 6.

The Hannibal public schools' annual Pirate Pride Challenge, a 5K run/5K walk, will take place on Saturday, Oct. 6.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. in Hannibal High School's Porter Stadium.

Proceeds from the event will support H.A.Y.S. and Buddy Backpacks.

Participants will be divided into seven divisions - 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+. Awards will be given to the top overall male and female runners and the top two finishers in each age group. Also awards will be given to the top Hannibal staff member from each building. Awards will be announced following the fun run.

Entry fee is $10 plus a jar of peanut butter for Hannibal public school employees; $15 plus a jar of peanut butter for non-Hannibal public school employees; $40 plus a jar of peanut butter for a family of four or more.

Regular registration should be completed by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5. Late registration on the day of the race will be $25 for all participants.
