Hannibal jazz vocalist Katie Wood has pulled together a star-studded quartet, including some Hannibal natives, to accompany her for “Darn that Dream” Jazz Cabaret and Hannibal Arts Council (HAC) Benefit on Sunday, Sept. 23.

Hannibal jazz vocalist Katie Wood has pulled together a star-studded quartet, including some Hannibal natives, to accompany her for “Darn that Dream” Jazz Cabaret and Hannibal Arts Council (HAC) Benefit on Sunday, Sept. 23.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Hannibal Arts Council and its programs. Musicians performing with Wood include Phil Dunlap on piano, Dr. Bennett Wood on saxophone, Chris Turnbaugh on bass and Marty Morrison on drums.

The group brings some very impressive jazz experiences and expertise with them to Hannibal. Dunlap is the Director of Education and Community Engagement for Jazz St. Louis and UMSL Adjunct Jazz Studies Professor of Music Education, Dr. Wood is Director of Jazz at Mineral Area College in Park Hills, Turnbaugh is a St. Louis jazz educator, composer and engineer at Sawhorse Studios and Morrison is a Jazz Studies instructor at Missouri State in Springfield.
