Don and Ann Atkins of rural Hannibal will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary with a reception hosted by their children from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 9, 2018, at The Rialto Banquet Hall, 601 Broadway in Hannibal.

Don and Ann Atkins of rural Hannibal will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary with a reception hosted by their children from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 9, 2018, at The Rialto Banquet Hall, 601 Broadway in Hannibal.

Ann Carter Shelburne and Donald Paul Atkins were united in marriage on Sept. 4, 1948, at the Fifth Street Baptist Church in Hannibal. The Rev. Boyer officiated. Attendants were Virginia Leverington Howe, Kathleen Thomas Miller, Loren Atkins and the late Don Jones.

Mrs. Atkins is the daughter of the late John and Zelma Shelburne. Mr. Atkins is the son of the late J. Oney and Mabel Atkins.

They are the parents of six children, Linda Daniels, Laura Zeiger, Lee Atkins, Lou Doran and Lisa Ball, all of Hannibal, and the late Lester Atkins. They have 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Atkins are retired farmers, having lived all their married life on the Atkins’ family farm which has been designated as a Century Farm. They previously owned and operated Prestige Realty, Inc. in Hannibal and at the Mark Twain Lake.

Friends and family are invited to the reception. The couple requests no gifts.
