A Hannibal man faces a felony rape charge after Hannibal police officers responded to the home of his estranged spouse.

According to a probable cause statement from the Hannibal Police Department, Allen T. Vaughn, of Hannibal, came over to his estranged wife’s house to see their children. Later in the day, Vaughn allegedly raped the victim following arguments and her attempt to telephone for help.

Marion County Prosecuting Attorney David Clayton said the charge filed Monday, Aug. 3 carries a sentence of between one year in jail and seven years in prison, a fine of up to $10,000, or a combination of the punishments.

Vaughn is incarcerated in the Marion County Jail on a $25,000 cash-only bond. His first court hearing is set for Friday, Sept. 7 in the Marion County Associate Court.
