An Iowa man was seriously injured after dozing off while driving and then crashing early Tuesday morning in Monroe County.

An Iowa man was seriously injured after dozing off while driving and then crashing early Tuesday morning in Monroe County.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol the mishap happened at 3:40 a.m., Aug. 7, on U.S. 24, one mile west of Paris.

A 2017 Kenworth conventional tractor-trailer was being driven eastbound by 37-year-old Aaron M. Torticill of Hudson, Iowa. The crash occurred when Torticill fell asleep and the vehicle crossed the roadway where it collided with a ditch, fence and tree.

Torticill was transported by ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia.
