The Hannibal Salvation Army and Poage Auto Group are teaming up for a Christmas in July celebration on Sunday, July 15, at the Hannibal Hoots ball game.

The Hoots will play the Quincy Gems at 3 p.m. at Clemens Field in Hannibal.

A Salvation Army Brass Band will perform pregame, and bell ringers will be present with red kettles for donations.

The Hannibal Salvation Army will have a silent auction featuring unique sports memorabilia, including framed Cardinals and Cubs pictures, along with replicas of Cards and Cubs World Series rings.

Game tickets may be bought on the Hoots website. If someone buys five tickets, the Hoots will donate $5 to the Salvation Army.

People attending the game are invited to bring non-perishable food or toys to fill the truck to benefit the Salvation Army food pantry and to provide toys for local children at Christmas.

Poage is collecting food and toys at its Hannibal dealership for the entire month of July.

Through Poage Auto Group, people attending the game may sign up for a drawing, and the person whose name is drawn will have an opportunity to win $10,000 by tossing a tennis ball into the back of a pickup truck (if the ball does not bounce out). People may sign up for this in advance at Poage.
