Cooler than usual weather greeted the 21 youngsters, ages 3 to 6, competing July 7 in the Hannibal Evening Kiwanis Club's annual Tricycle and Big Wheel contests.

Separate races were scheduled for children ages 3, 4, 5 and 6, both on tricycles and Big Wheels.

With only two youngsters riding Big Wheels, both won first place in their age divisions.

• Big Wheel winners were Kinsley Foust, age 4; and Harrison Holiday, age 5.

Winners of the tricycle race, by age divisions, were:

• Age 3 – Brenton Johnston, first place; Kolton Porter, second; and Jase McCoy, third

• Age 4 – Hadley Ledbetter, first; Ella Borgmeyer, second; and Hadley Young, third

• Age 5 – Harper Lewellen, first; Andy McCoy, second; and Kendall Young, third

• Age 6 – Preston Miller, first; and Adam Stuckman, second

After the winners received their trophies, Preston Miller said he was happy he won his age 6 race, because this was his last year and he “always won second or third” in past years.

Others may have been repeating a previous first-place win, such as the age 5 trike winner, Harper Lewellen, who said she also won first place in 2017.
