Dr. Mun Choi, president of the four-campus University of Missouri system, will be the speaker for the annual student sendoff sponsored by the local chapter of the Mizzou Alumni Association on Saturday, July 21.

The Great River Tigers Chapter hosts this event each summer to promote Mizzou activities and send local Mizzou students off to school. The summer bash and student sendoff will take place at Jackson Park Golf Course in Palmyra. The social starts at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.

A barbecue pork loin dinner will be served at a cost of $10 per person. Mizzou students receive the meal for free. A unique feature of the event is the giving away of four to six $500 scholarships. Winners will be selected by a drawing of the students present.

Dr. Choi became president of the University of Missouri two years ago. His efforts have resulted in increased enrollment and improved finances. He will update those attending on progress at the university system, especially the Columbia campus.

All current and incoming Mizzou students are invited to attend, along with Mizzou alums, friends and fans. For more information, contact Event Chairman Al Kennett at kennetta@missouri.edu or 573-248-6947.
