The not-for-profit North East Community Action Corporation (NECAC) has money available to help qualifying clients with summer utility assistance.

The summer portion of the Energy Crisis Intervention Program (ECIP) began June 1. The program pays overdue electricity bills of up to $300 for income-qualifying households. It is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and is distributed through the Missouri Department of Social Services, which then contracts with NECAC to administer the program. NECAC has been allocated $382,130 in ECIP funding, down slightly from $397,743 last year.

“We are pleased to offer assistance to qualifying families and individuals in need,” said NECAC Supervisor Angela Kattenbraker. “We can help a lot of households, and not all of them will need $300 of assistance. So, we urge people to give us a call if they need help.”
