Center Police Chief David Ray was selected to attend a course at the Midwest Counterdrug Training Center at Camp Dodge in Johnston, Iowa, in May.

Center Police Chief David Ray was selected to attend a course at the Midwest Counterdrug Training Center at Camp Dodge in Johnston, Iowa, in May.

The course is sponsored by the United States Department of Defense. The scholarship covered the cost of the class as well as lodging accommodations for the week-long class. At the conclusion of scenario-based testing as well as a comprehensive academic test, Ray received a certificate as a Drug Abuse Recognition Specialist in alcohol and both prescription and illicit drug abuse, use, manufacturing, sales, transportation, and financing.

Also included in the training, participants became familiar with the indicators that are legally consistent with a person under the influence of stimulants, hallucinogens, opiates, cannabis (THC), alcohol, depressants, inhalants, and dissociative anesthetics (PCP, Ketamine, DXM). Officers from Minnesota, Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, and Arkansas attended the class.
