Evan Wallace, a Hannibal High School senior, has been awarded the Dr. Wyeth Hamlin Memorial Scholarship.

Wallace has demonstrated academic excellence ranking fourth in his class with a 4.33 GPA, as well as receiving honors while being involved in numerous activities.  He has been part of the varsity academic team at HHS, attended The Joseph Baldwin Academy and the Summer Talent Academy of Professions in Health, and was a Missouri Scholars 100 honorable mention.

Wallace has been a member of the River City Revue Show Choir and played on the HHS soccer team for four years. He has donated his time mentoring younger students at a youth soccer camp, mentoring a sixth grade mathematics class, and given time at his church in the nursery and acquiring items for shoebox donations that were sent to Haiti and the Dominican Republic. He has also taken time to help the Salvation Army with bell ringing at Christmas time.

This scholarship was established as a tribute to Hamlin's enthusiasm for education as well as his dedication to his medical career.

Wallace's future plans are to attend the University of Missouri and after completing medical school to practice in a rural area.
