The trial of a man accused of shooting and injuring a Monroe City police officer in a January 2016 crime spree has been vacated.

The trial of a man accused of shooting and injuring a Monroe City police officer in a January 2016 crime spree has been vacated.

Timothy Brokes was scheduled for a June trial in Monroe County for the third incident in a crime spree on Jan. 12-13, 2016. Brokes is accused of shooting and running over Aaron Gauch, then killing Brittany Gauch in Marion County before fleeing to Monroe City. He is accused of injuring officer Travis Pugh when the officer attempted to make contact with Brokes.

Charges on the first two assaults are being handled by the Marion County Prosecuting Attorney while charges in the third incident were brought by the Monroe County Prosecuting Attorney.

In the Monroe City incident, Brokes is charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer, armed criminal action, and hindering prosecution.

According to court documents, Monroe County Prosecuting Attorney Talley Kendrick requested a continuance of the trial, which Brokes did not object to.

A motion hearing is scheduled in the case for Thursday, May 17. Brokes is to appear in person at the courthouse in Paris, Mo.
