A large crowd gathered on April 14 at the Hannibal Alliance Art Gallery, 112 N. Main, for Second Saturday Gallery Night. This was among four local galleries with scheduled drawings for art.

Two artists are featured at the Alliance Gallery in April, Colleen Wagner of Kirksville and Gallery member Kimberly Shinn.

Shinn was busy selling her work before one of her pictures was awarded to the drawing winner, Rob Ahrens. He won her bluebird picture titled “Winter Song.”

Earlier in the evening Shinn sold a large horse picture titled “Dapple Gray” to Roland and Mary Jane Romano. Mary Jane explained the couple left Hannibal in 2000 and have now moved back to the local home they had previously occupied.

At Milly's Abby Rose Gallery next door at 110 N. Main, Jessica Noel won the drawing. She was given the choice of any ornament on a Christmas tree, and selected a purple ball. She had already bought one painting there earlier Saturday.

Milly Johnson explained she has owned the Abby Rose Gallery for one year and her works are on display, along with 13 additional artists.

At Gallery 310, Dave Scharnhorst won the drawing and received a water color of a tulip painted by Kathy Hyer, a member of the Gallery 310 co-op.

Scharnhorst said water colors is his favorite medium. He also is an artist, but said he has not done any work for a long time.

The fourth gallery listed to participate, Mississippi River Gallery, was closed on Saturday.
