The injuries to the driver are not yet known.

One woman was taken to the hospital for treatment following a single-vehicle wreck Monday afternoon.

The crash occurred at the northern end of the Third St. viaduct. Witnesses say they heard a loud thud and saw the teal-colored car on its top. Both lanes of traffic were blocked, with Hannibal Police Department personnel aiding in traffic diversion. The southern approach to the viaduct, however, was backed up with vehicles unable to maneuver around the accident scene.

Emergency personnel were on the scene in moments tending to the driver. Her identity and status was not available by press deadline.

It is believed the car turned south from Church St. and struck the wall of the viaduct as it begins to ascend heading south on Third St. Crews were on the scene for the better part of an hour while the woman was treated and the car removed.

The incident took place around 1 p.m.
