The Hannibal Board of Public Works has begun the process of installing wiring for new street lights that will be installed along U.S. 61.

The next phase of the Hannibal Board of Public Works’ (HBPW) latest lighting upgrade project is underway. On Monday, HBPW personnel were installing wiring for new street lights along a busy traffic corridor in Hannibal.

New light-emitting diode (LED) lights will be installed along a section of U.S. 61 from West Ely Road/Pleasant Street to Highway MM/James Road.

The lighting work is taking place before the Missouri Department of Transportation’s (MoDOT) planned improvement project along the U.S. 61/McMaster’s Avenue corridor. That MoDOT work is tentatively slated to begin in the late spring of 2018. The HBPW intends to have its lighting work completed by the end of June.
