The first monthly Blessing Wellness Walk will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Quincy Mall fountain court area. Dr. Irving Schwartz, M.D., a cardiologist with Blessing Physician Services, invited anyone interested in walking with a doctor or who want to make walking a part of their exercise routine to participate.

At 8 a.m. those interested can participate in a weigh-in and blood pressure check by a registered nurse and Schwartz will briefly discuss a current health topic. Following his talk, the group will walk around the inside of the Quincy Mall. Attendees can choose from various courses to cover the distance they choose. Free pedometers will be available while the supply lasts.
"There is no pill that provides the benefits of simple exercise," said Schwartz. "People know they need to exercise, but sometimes they need motivation. The Blessing Wellness Walk is that motivation. Please join me."
In addition, at 9 a.m. hands-only CPR instruction will be provided at no cost. Hands-only CPR is an effective option to the method that requires mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Healthcare providers recommend everyone know some form of CPR, because not all heart attacks occur in a hospital or clinic.
