A 19-year-old Palmyra man was seriously injured Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision in Linn County.

A 19-year-old Palmyra man was seriously injured Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision in Linn County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol the mishap happened at 3:52 p.m. on U.S. 36, two miles west of Brookfield.

A 2006 Ford 150, operated by Cole S. Shade of Palmyra, and a 2007 Peterbuilt tractor-trailer, driven by 30-year-old Mathew R. Witt of Collinsville, Okla., were both westbound when the Ford struck the rear of the tractor-trailer as it was slowing due to other traffic.

Shade, who was wearing a safety restraint, was taken by ambulance to Pershing Memorial Hospital. From there he was flown to University Hospital in Columbia.
