Workers for Bill Sullivan Excavating were continuing to install underground conduit along U.S. 61 in Hannibal Wednesday.

The Hannibal Board of Public Works’ lighting project along U.S. 61 continues to make headway.

“Our boring contractor (Bill Sullivan Excavating) continues to install underground conduit the entire length of the project,” said Heath Hall, director of operations for the HBPW. “Sullivan is about 50 percent done with installing the underground conduit. If the weather cooperates and stays above freezing, he should complete his portion of the project by the end of February.”

Once the contractor is finished with his work the HBPW will start the next phase of the project.

“HBPW crews will begin pulling wire and installing the new aluminum poles and fixtures,” said Hall. “This work should go quickly if the weather is good. I expect us to be completed in March or April.”
