One student was taken into custody and transported to the Police Department for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, minor in possession of tobacco and minor in possession of alcohol.

On Friday, Jan. 26, the Monroe City Police Department conducted a K9 search of the Monroe City High School and Middle School in cooperation with the Monroe City School District. The target of the search was for illegal contraband and to combat illegal drugs in our school system.

During the search, K9s alerted on a passenger car in the parking lot which resulted in marijuana and drug paraphernalia being seized. One student was taken into custody and transported to the Police Department for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, minor in possession of tobacco and minor in possession of alcohol. Due to school policies, the student’s name will not be released at this time. No contraband was located inside the schools.

The Monroe City Police Department was assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol K9 unit, Shelbina Police Department K9 unit, Clarence Police Department K9 unit, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the Northeast Missouri (NEMO) Drug Task Force.
