One person was killed and another was injured Thursday afternoon in Pike County when a vehicle struck a private residence in Bowling Green.

One person was killed and another was injured Thursday afternoon in Pike County when a vehicle struck a private residence in Bowling Green.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol the accident happened at 5:55 p.m. at 14029 Business U.S. 54.

A 2005 Chevrolet Silverado was being driven west by 53-year-old Clarence H. Rousan of Curryville when it traveled off the left side of the road where it struck a stop sign and then continued on, coming to a halt when it struck residence, injuring a resident who was inside – 38-year-old Gary Rankes of Bowling Green.

Both Rousan and Rankes were taken by ambulance to Pike County Memorial Hospital. There Rousan was pronounced deceased at 7:04 p.m.

Rankes' injuries were described as moderate.
