Hannibal High School FCCLA members participated in Region 3 STAR Events held at Marceline High School on Wednesday, Jan. 24. The Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a national student organization that helps young men and women become leaders and address important personal, family, work, and social issues through Family Consumer Sciences education. STAR Events, (Students Taking Action with Recognition) is a FCCLA program of competitive events designed to recognize individuals and chapters for their proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills and occupational preparation.
Seven members of Hannibal High competed in the competition. Collectively the chapter brought home four top gold and one silver medal. Madison Thomure and Tanner Price, top gold in Hospitality and Tourism Occupational; Deserea Cullom, top gold, in Foods Innovation Occupational; Ruby Roisum and Jessica Stinson top gold in Foods Innovation Senior; Anna Richardson and Brecklyn Booth top gold in National Programs in Actions; James Rosenburg, silver in Hospitality and Tourism Senior.
Students receiving top gold will move on to compete at the State FCCLA Leadership Conference, March 11-13, held at Tan-Tar-A resorts.
Also attending were Delaney Cooke, serving as an evaluator, Kailee Rickerson, chapter coordinator and Linda Stinson advisor for the Hannibal FCCLA chapter.
