Steve Wilson and Brian Evans of the Hannibal Parks & Rereation Department were working on Central Park benches Wednesday afternoon.

Preparations for spring are under way in the Hannibal parks system.

On Wednesday the attention of the Hannibal Parks and Recreation Department (HPRD) was on Central Park. Brian Evans and Steve Wilson of the HPRD were in the park working on the wooden benches that face the bandstand.

The bench project has been in the works for some time, according to Andy Dorian, director of the HPRD.

“We are redoing the wooden benches that need it in Central Park,” he said during the Jan. 18 meeting of the Park Board at city hall. “Our guys started replacing the ones that are damaged.”

Dorian indicated the repairs should not take too long.

“They should be done by springtime,” he said.
