The Paris R-II Board of Education met on Jan. 17. Current business items discussed were as follows: the diesel fuel bid from Monroe County Co-Op was accepted, bus routes were approved, and an update on the progress of construction was given.

Mental health services are needed in schools across the state and nation. The Paris R-II School District entered in a partnership with Clarity Health Group. The partnership allows Clarity Health Group to provide needed mental health services to our students. The partnership also provides a level of primary care using the school nurse and assistive technology.

In the Superintendent’s Report, Aaron Vitt informed the board the results of candidate filing for the April 2018 school board election. The Paris R-II School District has four candidates running for the two open positions. The candidates are Quentin Ashenfelter, Aaron Eckman, Lee Wade, and Clint Youse. Wendy Reid and Chris Willingham reported on professional development and student activities taking place in their buildings.

The next meeting of the Paris R-II Board of Education will be on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, at 6 p.m.
