With a wintry mix of precipitation on the way the Hannibal Street Department was mixing more material for streets Thursday morning.

With the next round of winter precipitation in the forecast, road crews across northeast Missouri were getting ready on Thursday morning. In Hannibal that meant mixing more material for spreading on streets after the temperature dropped and rain transitioned over to periods of freezing rain, sleet and snow.

Rich Dauma of the Hannibal Street Department was at the controls of a loader that he was using to combine a mixture of materials that will help make streets safe for motorists to drive upon.

Dauma expressed hope that weather forecasters would be wrong and the weather system would not create too many problems for local drivers.

Road crews will not get too much of a break after Thursday’s precipitation as there is a good chance of snow Sunday night.
