NECAC has received HERO funding for more than a decade, and was part of a pilot project that introduced the program in Macon, Monroe City and Shelbina.

North East Community Action Corporation (NECAC) President and Chief Executive Officer Don Patrick has announced that the not-for-profit agency has been awarded $340,000 in Missouri Housing Development Commission (MHDC) HERO program funding to provide major renovations at homes in 12 counties.

“We are thankful to MHDC for this grant award funding,” Patrick said.

The program will provide roof replacements, siding, electrical and plumbing work, and disabled accessibility projects at owner-occupied, income-qualifying homes in Lewis, Lincoln, Macon, Marion, Monroe, Montgomery, Pike, Ralls, Randolph, St. Charles, Shelby and Warren counties. Homes must be at least three years old.

MHDC announced approval of the project at its annual funding meeting Decd. 19 in Columbia. Applications are being taken at the following NECAC Service Centers:
