The Hannibal Police Department was called to a traffic accident at 5:31 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, involving a SUV and a pedestrian.

The Hannibal Police Department was called to a traffic accident at 5:31 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, involving a SUV and a pedestrian.

The HPD provided the following report: The accident was on state Highway 79 at the intersection with Broadway in downtown Hannibal.

The driver of the SUV and witnesses reported the pedestrian, a 36-year-old Hannibal man, was lying in the northern crosswalk in the northbound lane of Highway 79. The SUV struck the prone pedestrian and stopped immediately after.

The pedestrian was transported by Marion County Emergency Services for treatment.
