The next meeting of the Paris R-II Board of Education will be on Monday, Nov. 13, at 6 p.m.

The Paris R-II Board of Education met on Oct. 18. Current business items discussed were the food service bid from OPAA Food Management Incorporated, which was accepted; action was taken reimburse the licensing expense for bus drivers; and pursuing a HVAC maintenance contract. In addition, the following items were declared surplus property: School bus No. 4, and the rock taken off of the roof at the elementary school.

An update was given on the construction projects. Roofing work is in full swing. Missouri Builders accepted our terms of completion — move back to Nov. 1 but raise penalty to $750 a day. The electricity at the high school was shut down after school on Thursday, Oct. 26 , in order to complete the installation of the HVAC units.

The board passed the following policies and regulations: Policy and Regulation 2785 – Student Suicide Awareness; Policy 2850 – Inoculation of Students; and Regulation 2921 –Participation by Non-Traditional Students; Regulation 3165 – Procurement Standards – Federal Contracts; and Policy 4550 – Retirement Compensation.

Jennifer Truesdell presented the Special Education evaluation. Brooke Ludwig reported on the library and technology.

In the Superintendent’s Report, Aaron Vitt informed the board the audit results are scheduled for November. The district will also be applying for a Clean Diesel Grant with the Environmental Protection Agency to assist with the purchase of new buses. Wendy Reid and Chris Willingham reported on professional development and student activities taking place in their buildings.
