Street Department crew members took care of the final touches for spots where Board of Public Works employees performed repair work on Market St. on Thursday, Oct. 26.

Foreman David Todd said crew members were filling patches with asphalt for a smooth surface, completing three of the eight or nine patches along Market St. They planned to finish the remainder of the patches on the street on Friday, and Todd noted there were about 100 patches to fill across town. With fall setting in, Todd said it's becoming a challenge to find asphalt facilities that are open — Street Department trucks were headed back to Hannibal with the material necessary to finish the repairs.

Sunny conditions continued during the late morning hours. The crew members used a backhoe, shovel, and asphalt squeegees to create a smooth surface before they moved ahead to their next project.
