On Sunday afternoon, Oct. 22, the Hannibal Fire Department was called to a fire in a garage on an alley between the 100 block of North Maple Avenue and Grand Avenue, behind the Save-A-Lot store.

Two juveniles were arrested on suspicion of arson following an Oct. 22 garage fire.

On Sunday, Oct. 22, the Hannibal Fire Department was called to a fire in the garage on an alley between the 100 block of North Maple Avenue and Grand Avenue, behind the Save-A-Lot store. By 2:15 p.m., it was nearly extinguished.

When officers arrived on scene, a witness advised officers, he had seen a juvenile running from the structure and stating he had set the fire. Officers located and arrested two 12-year-old Hannibal youths at the scene.

The juveniles were transported to the police department and questioned by detectives and a Juvenile officer. One juvenile was released to the Juvenile Officer and transported to detention. The other juvenile was released to his parents.

Firefighters were joined by the Hannibal Police Department, ambulance district and Marion County Sheriff's Department.

By 2:15 p.m. the fire was nearly extinguished. Firefighters remained on the scene for several hours.
