MoDOT personnel had a portion of northbound U.S. 61 reduced to one lane Thursday morning while they performed shoulder work.

A section of northbound U.S. 61 in Hannibal, from just south of the James Road/Highway MM intersection to the Missouri Visitors Center, was reduced to one lane Thursday morning so a Missouri Department Transportation crew could safely perform shoulder work.

Thursday afternoon comparable work was planned at portions of southbound U.S. 61 between James Road/Highway MM and MoDOT Drive, across from the Missouri Visitors Center.

Vegetation was being burned off from the area receiving attention as needed. Another MoDOT worker, armed with a leaf blower, was removing any loose debris from the work zone. Finally, hot oil was being applied to seal the surface.
