Winners of the Hannibal Art Club 53rd annual area artist exhibit and competition, ORiGINALE, were announced and honored at the Sept. 22 reception at the Hannibal Arts Council.

Winners of the Hannibal Art Club 53rd annual area artist exhibit and competition, ORiGINALE, were announced and honored at the Sept. 22 reception at the Hannibal Arts Council.

The exhibit is on display at the HAC until Saturday, Nov. 8. HAC Gallery hours are Monday, and Wednesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The exhibit features 107 original works by 60 area artists, with works including oil/oil pastel, drawings/prints, water media, sculpture/assemblage, mixed media and acrylics. 

Recipients of the two top Best of Show awards were Howard Kuo of Hannibal and Kelly Eddington of Monroe City. Kuo won the LaBinnah Bistro Best of Show Award for his watercolor titled Don’t Slam My Door in the Non-Professional Division. Eddington won the Barrick-Gaines Best of Show Award for her watercolor titled Arrival the Professional Division.

Recipients of two Achievement Awards in each division were: Non-Professional Division: Brent Jacobson Memorial Award - ­­­­Limited Palette Floral by Linda Gower. Professional Division: Dr. and Mrs. Michael Bukstein Award - Corn Maze by Brenda Benson

Recipients of four Excellence Awards in each division were: Non-Professional Division: Aaron Gregonis Award - ­­­­Peonies by Joan Cook; Dorothy Marshall Memorial Award - ­­­­Summer Porch by Kay Sutherland; Dorothy Weaver Memorial Award - Rollic by Sherry Taylor; Law Firm of Dempsey and Dempsey Award - ­­­­Senior Photoshoot by Amanda Brown. Professional Division: Farmers and Merchants Bank Award - Glorious Gourds by Benda Beck Fisher; Blanche Mudd Memorial Award - Ruth 1924 by Rachel Loyd Roundtree; Independent’s Service Company Award - ­­­­Wowi Maui by Susan Freisen; James O’Donnell Funeral Home Award - ­­­­At The Big People Table by Kelly Eddington.

Recipients of seven Merit Awards in each division were: Non-Professional Division: Doris Ahrens Memorial Award - ­­­­Venice Italy by Shelly Campbell; Dr. Joshua Ricker DDS Award - ­­­­Rainbow Bug by Keelie O’Brien; Fiddlestiks Food & Spirits Award - ­­­­Royal Descent by Karen Clayton; Linda Robbins Memorial Award - ­­­­Irish Hills by Sherry Taylor; Mary Ann Viorel Award - ­­­­Elaborate by Mary Beth Baudendistel; Nancy Beckner Memorial Award - ­­­­Storm Clouds Over Southern Kansas by Suzanne McGee; Toto Rendlen Award - ­­­­Crystallin Cypress by Mary Phillips. Professional Division: Alliance Art Gallery Award - ­­­­@ the Art Center by Karl Warma; Gallery 310 Award – Horizonteal by Nick Sorrill; Great River Watercolor Society Award - Organic Red Cabbage by Debra K. Scoggin/Myers; Hannibal Carbide Tool Award - ­­­Green Vase by Linda Buechting; Quincy Artists Guild Award - ­­­­Bayou Sunrise by Virginia Breshears; Steven Viorel Award - ­­­­Winter’s Harbingers by Brenda Beck Fisher; Toto Rendlen Award - ­­­­Slot Canyon by Cyndi Taylor.

Recipients of two additional Honorable Mention Awards in each division were: Non-Professional Division: Who? by Joan Cook and Still Reaching by Mary Ann Brinkley. Professional Division: May Day by Bill Yates and Mappings III by Robert Lee Mejer.
