A portion of Bay Avenue in Hannibal was being graded on Wednesday morning in advance of repaving later this week.

The eastern end of Bay Avenue in Hannibal will soon be much smoother to drive upon following a street project by the street department.

A four-man crew of city workers was busy at the site on Wednesday morning where an assortment of equipment was being utilized.

A grader was being used Wednesday to prepare the road bed for a new asphalt surface.

Reportedly the project got underway on Monday morning.

Because of the pavement’s condition much of it had to be removed. After the old driving surface was removed the area was being smoothed.

After the surface preparation is completed the asphalt machine will take center stage on Thursday.
