At the annual Paris FFA officer retreat, the officer team planned a new event: FFA Rush Week. This week was focused on having fun and recruiting new members.

Rush Week took place Aug. 22 -26 with different event each day. After the first day of school, FFA hosted a pool party at the Paris Pool. The highlight of the evening was watching some of the members do flips and dives off the diving board as well as spending time with fellow FFA members. A tour to Sydenstricker Equipment and Genetics as well as a night at the Mexico Bowling Alley was planned for Wednesday.

On Thursday, one of the favorite events was scavenger hunt around town looking for agricultural items such as 20 hay bales, a Beck’s seed sign and an FFA jacket older than 1980. FFA members were able to connect with community members and even found a married couple who were both in FFA, Jeff and Debbie Ragsdale (bonus points were given on the number of years married.)

FFA Rush Week was a success with a 10 percent membership increase over last year, and 2 percent more active members than last year.
