Sunday, Sept. 10 was a special Sunday for South Union Baptist Church in Maywood, Mo. Bro. G. Dale Norfolk has been the church's pastor for more than four years and retired from the ministry after 67 years of ministry.

Sunday, Sept. 10 was a special Sunday for South Union Baptist Church in Maywood, Mo.  Bro. G. Dale Norfolk has been the church's pastor for more than four years and retired from the ministry after 67 years of ministry. Norfolk was a Chaplain in the Missouri Senate and worked at the Missouri Baptist Children's Home and served as pastor for a number of churches. He and his wife, Barbara, live in Hannibal and the church had a special service to honor him with special music, comments from many visitors and Judge Rachel Bringer Shepherd read letters of congratulations from senators who were serving in the Missouri Senate when he was the Chaplain. 

Norfolk was presented a Resolution from the current Senate by Judge Shepherd on behalf of State Sen. Brian Munzlinger (R-Williamstown).

Mr. and Mrs. Don Roberts were in attendance and were the first couple Norfolk had married 64 years ago.  Norfolk family members in attendance were their daughter, Lori Jones, granddaughter, Harmony Aquino, son, Dennis Norfolk, sisters, Connie Kriegbaum,Bonnie Hamilton and Becky Frier and an Aunt and Uncle Mr. and Mrs. Jim King.  Other special guests included a number of folks from Holts Summit and Jefferson City, Rev and Mrs. Terry Crownover of Belleville, Il., Rev. and Mrs.Larry Taylor of Hannibal and other Hannibal guests were, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Hatton, Mr. and Mrs. John Yancey and David Dexheimer who presented the morning message. 

Loretta Bringer presented the Tribute to the Norfolk's with church gifts and a "Joy Basket" of cards and notes.  A full plate lunch was served for everyone after the service and many memories shared.
