In Marion County, nominations are being sought for a low-income representative. Candidates must be nominated by a low-income resident of the county or a service organization or group that serves the interest and needs of the low-income in the county.

The not-for-profit North East Community Action Corporation (NECAC) is accepting candidate nominations for open board positions in Marion, Shelby and Lewis counties with a deadline of Sept. 18.

All candidates must be residents of the counties in which they are nominated and will be asked to complete a biographical questionnaire. Terms of office are from October 2017 to September 2021.

Nominations will be accepted from Aug. 18 to Sept. 18. An election will be held Sept. 26 by the NECAC Board of Directors, with installation on Oct. 24.

In Marion County, nominations are being sought for a low-income representative. Candidates must be nominated by a low-income resident of the county or a service organization or group that serves the interest and needs of the low-income in the county. Candidates need not be low-income persons themselves. Nominations forms are available at the NECAC Marion County Center, 3518 Palmyra Road in Hannibal.

In Shelby and Lewis counties, nominations are being accepted for civic interest and low-income board representatives. Civic interest candidates must be nominated by a local business, labor, civic, fraternal, social, educational or religious organization.

Nomination forms are available at the NECAC Shelby County Service Center, 204 E. Third in Shelbyville, or the NECAC Lewis County Service Center, 408 S. Fourth in Canton.

The NECAC Board meets on the fourth Tuesday at 7 p.m. in January, March, May, July, September, October and November at the agency’s Central Administration Executive Office Building in Bowling Green. 

NECAC is one of 19 not-for-profit Community Action Agencies in Missouri and more than 1,000 across the United States. Marion County Presiding Commissioner Lyndon Bode of Palmyra is the current Chairman of the Board and Don Patrick of Louisiana is the agency’s President and Chief Executive Officer.
