Wilson Tree Service workers were continuing to remove vegetation from a yard on West Ely Road in Hannibal on Wednesday afternoon.
The cleanup of an overgrown yard on West Ely Road in Hannibal was continuing on Wednesday afternoon.
“Some of the vines they’re removing are as big as my arm,” said Susan Osterhout, city property maintenance inspector, who was monitoring the work being performed by Wilson Tree Service.
Although private property the cleanup is being paid for by the city. The City Council authorized the work in July.
Neighbors had complained that the lot in the 4100 block of West Ely was not just unsightly, but represented a hazard.
With the vegetation removed, neighbors on either side of 4109 West Ely now had better line of sight when backing out of their driveway.
