The boyhood home of Hannibal’s ephemeral son, Mark Twain, is in the running to be named Missouri’s top attraction by USA Today 10Best — a travel and lifestyle section of the national newspaper.

But the Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum needs your help. The public will vote on the top Missouri attraction through the USA Today 10Best website. Visitors on the 10Best website can cast one vote per attraction per day.

The Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum is in some good company with other attractions from around the Show-Me State.

The Best Missouri Attraction contest writers note, “One of the most populated states in the Great Plains, Missouri has it all – big city attractions in St. Louis and Kansas City and wild, open places like the rolling Ozark Mountains.”

Other nominated Missouri attractions include well-known sites like the Gateway Arch in St. Louis and the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City, but also smaller sites like Marceline, Mo., and Ozark National Scenic Riverways.

The Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum contains several buildings on two sites in downtown Hannibal. The attraction celebrates the life and time of Samuel Clemens, better known as Mark Twain. Sites include the Boyhood Home, the Becky Thacther House and the Justice of the Peace Law Office on the Hill St. Mall and the Museum itself at the corner of Center and Main St.

Grant’s Drug Store is undergoing renovation and is currently closed to the public.

“The Mark Twain Boyhood Home & Museum is honored to be included as one of the 20 nominated attractions in the USA Today’s Top10 Missouri Attractions reader’s choice contest. To be listed along with such historical and noteworthy sites as the St. Louis Gateway Arch, Branson’s Entertainment District, the Harry S. Truman Library and Museum, and the Missouri Botanical Gardens is exciting,” said Melissa Cummins, Marketing and Community Relations Manager
