It is the time of year again for The Northeast Missouri Humane Society’s (NEMOHS) Annual Fundraiser.

THE 2017 event may be the most epic of all the annuals. Located, as always, in Central Park in Hannibal, this year’s event is from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 23. The theme is “Safety Dog.” The event is geared toward providing lots of family fun.

The Hannibal Fire Department, Marion County Ambulance District and the Ralls County Sheriff Department will be there with their big trucks and Canine Unit vehicle. The infamous HFD Fire Pup will be there to visit with all the attendees. The Ralls County Sheriff Canine Unit will provide a demonstration of their talents. The Quincy Kennel Club’s Dancing Dogs will perform for the public. Last (but not least) there will be pet related vendor booths for your shopping enjoyment. Some of the vendor fun includes Paint with your Pet, Paw Print Prayer, Photo booth, Treats for your dog and miscellaneous giveaways.

This event is very important to the future of the Northeast Missouri Humane Society. Founded in Hannibal in 1966, this non-profit organization is primarily funded by memberships, donations, fundraisers, endowments and monetary gifts. They are not affiliated with any other Humane Societies and do not receive state or federal funding. The NEMOHS relies solely on the generosity of their friends and supporters to help the lost, stray, injured, unwanted and neglected animals of Northeast Missouri. Every penny NEMOHS receive gives to the animals in their loving care and provides more expedited ways of procuring forever homes. The NEMOHS is dedicated to progress, and working on exciting projects to improve the lives of the animals is their goal. They may only achieve that goal by gaining nurturing support and heart-felt giving of individuals such as yourself.

Preregistration can be achieved by visiting the shelter at 2923 Warren Barrett Drive, or by signing up the day of the event at 9 a.m. in Central Park. Registration includes a goodie bag with choice of short sleeve t-shirt for $25, or long sleeve t-shirt for $30. Hoodies are also available for preorder by visiting the shelter.

The event is co-sponsored by Hannibal Parks & Recreation with some assistance that day being

volunteered by Teens in Motion, which is under the umbrella of Douglass Community Services, Inc. and is a United Way recipient.
