Missouri Domestic Violence Shelter tax credits are available through AVENUES Domestic Violence Shelter. AVENUES has been granted $40,816.32 in tax credits available now through June 30, 2018.

Domestic Violence Shelter tax credits are available to for Missouri taxpayers who donate $100 or more to AVENUES. Businesses and individuals who qualify can receive a Missouri tax credit for 50 percent of their donation.

“Domestic Violence Shelters Tax Credits are a great way for community members to show their support of AVENUES, while offsetting any tax liabilities they may have with the State of Missouri,” AVENUES Board Vice President Father Mike Quinn said.

Each year Domestic Violence shelters receives an equal share of these tax credits at the beginning of the Missouri fiscal year, which runs July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018.

Judy Edmonson, AVENUES Executive Director said, “In past years AVENUES has not used up its yearly allotment and we have donated tax credits back so that other shelters can use them. AVENUES receives tax credits for approximately $40,000 which would mean a total of $80,000 in donations to AVENUES if all tax credits were used by Missouri taxpayers.”

According to Edmonson, AVENUES depends on donations to continue to provide services to victims of domestic and sexual violence.

“Domestic Violence Shelter Tax Credit Donations are very important to AVENUES,” Edmonson said.
“We use donations to cover the cost of the day-to-day operations of the agency. Earlier this year we received notice we would no longer receive one of our largest grants due to state budget cuts. These tax credits are an opportunity for businesses and individuals who pay Missouri State Taxes, to reduce their tax liability to the state and help a vital community organization that is in need at the same time.”

Domestic Violence Shelter tax credits are awarded on a first come — first serve basis.
