A man wanted on warrants in two states for financial exploitation of the elderly is now in custody after being arrested in Hannibal.

A man wanted on warrants in two states for financial exploitation of the elderly is now in custody after being arrested in Hannibal.

On July 28, 2017 at approximately 8:55 p.m., the Marion County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 1308 Collier Street in Hannibal.

Information was received by the Office regarding the whereabouts of John A. Watkins Jr., 36, at this location. After receiving this information, deputies were able to confirm Watkins to be at this location and then obtain a search warrant for the property.

According to the Marion County Sheriff, Watkins has been a fugitive since 2015 with two active felony arrest warrants from both Missouri and Illinois for financial exploitation of the elderly.

Since 2015, previous attempts to locate Watkins were attempted with no success. Watkins is currently in custody at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office awaiting extradition.
