No damage is expected between Thursday, July 27, and Tuesday, Aug. 1, when a river flood warning for the Mississippi River at Hannibal expires.

Due to strong storms and a deluge of rain to the north, the National Weather Service issued the flood warning on Wednesday to take effect on Thursday afternoon.

Current predictions have the river cresting at 16.7 feet on Saturday, July 29. Minor flooding begins to occur at 16 feet. At 17 feet, the John Hay Recreation Area across from Hannibal in Illinois begins to flood. It is not expected that the Hannibal flood gates will be inserted.
