On a day when the creation of a storm-water utility and water-system changes were discussed at length by the Hannibal Board of Public Works Board, the biggest news during Tuesday afternoon's meeting came right before the Board went into closed session when Board member Darwin (Dan) Patterson announced his resignation.

Patterson reported he is returning to Arizona, where he had previously lived before becoming a resident of Hannibal. Patterson shared that he would be leaving Hannibal on Wednesday.

Patterson has only been a member of the HBPW Board since December 2016 when he was nominated by City Manager Jeff LaGarce to take the place of Betty Anderson. She, like Patterson, was forced to resign after moving outside the city.
