Race will have a 1980s theme

Kids in Motion and Homebank have announced the Color in Motion 5K Fun Run and Walk on Saturday, Aug. 5, beginning at the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center. It will begin at 9 a.m., after last minute registrations and individual warm-ups starting at 8 a.m. The race will go through the Sodalis Park, and the KIM kids will be there to cheer on and douse the participants with color throughout the course.

Amy Vaughn, Kids in Motion program director said this year’s event will feature a new twist. “It’s a throwback to the 1980s, complete with ‘80s rock, costumes and more. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged in order to be guaranteed a T-shirt.”

Teams and Individuals may register online at www.raceroster.com/12905 or pick up forms at Douglass Community Services, 711 Grand Ave. Make checks payable to Kids in Motion. Register by July 22 to be guaranteed a short sleeved T-shirt.

The cost is: youth (0-12) $15, adult (13 and over) $25. Teams of five or more will receive a $5 discount per person There is no charge for strollers. If turning in paper copies of registrations for teams. All team paperwork must be submitted together to ensure all members are counted on the team.

The packet pick-up will be from 11 a.m. To 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4. at the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center.

A prize will be awarded to the participant with the best ‘80s costume. Recognition will be given to the male and female who finish first. The largest team will not only receive the team trophy but will be treated to a home-cooked meal by the Kids in Motion kids at First Presbyterian Church in Hannibal.
