The grass was mowed, the infield had been dragged and the foul lines and batter’s box had been chalked Wednesday morning before the start of the American Legion Class A State Tournament at Clemens Field in Hannibal.

Hannibal, which earned a berth in the tournament as the host team, was slated to see action Wednesday evening against Sullivan.

The tournament field which includes teams from across Missouri, features the defending state champion, Washington, and the 2016 state runner-up, Jackson.
