Hannibal firefighters were training on the city’s new ladder truck Wednesday afternoon at Clemens Field.

The Hannibal Fire Department’s new ladder truck is ready to officially go into service. Fire Chief Sean Hampton said that once the third crew completes its training Thursday the new vehicle will be put to use.

A transition period has been underway in recent weeks, according to Hampton.

“We’ve been taking equipment off the ladder truck we’re replacing and moving that equipment over to this new truck and getting everything set up so we can work off of it,” he said.

Training has gone well.

“So far the guys are taking to it real well,” said Hampton. “It’s got some features other trucks didn’t have.”
