Two Monroe County men are lodged in the Monroe County Jail following their arrests on suspicion of drug offenses.

During the afternoon hours of June 17, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the Monroe City Police Department, and the Ralls County Sheriff’s Office assisted the East Central Drug Task Force in a narcotics investigation in the 900 block of Highway 24 in Monroe City. As a result of the investigation, officers seized methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia used in the ingestion and distribution of controlled substances. Two subjects were arrested as a result of this investigation.

Chester Allen Florea, 52, of Monroe City, and Kyle Lynn Shelley, 35, of Paris, face charges of possession of a controlled substance, a Class D felony.

Both subjects were arrested on a 24-hour hold for investigation and placed in the Monroe County Jail. Warrants were later obtained and both subjects are held on $30,000 cash only bonds

Shelley is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on June 30. Florea's preliminary hearing will be held on July 14.

The East Central Drug Task Force was organized in 2001 and serves the cities of Bowling Green, Fayette, High Hill,, Louisiana, Mexico, Montgomery City, New Florence, Warrenton, and Vandalia, the counties of Audrain, Cooper, Howard, Montgomery, Monroe, Pike and Warren, along with the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
