The final three of six billboards featuring works by area artists were recently installed in the Hannibal area.

A watercolor painting by Monroe City artist Kelly Eddington is featured by Sleep Inn on Highway 36 West, a one-of-a-kind pendant by Brandy Hurt of AVA Goldworks is featured by the Wilco Fast Break on Highway 61 North in Palmyra and a mixed media Hummingbird by the Youth Division winner Abby White from Louisiana is featured coming into Hannibal from the south.

Three other billboards were installed in May and all six winners were featuring on digital billboards in Hannibal and Quincy. The complete list of artist winners is Kelly Eddington, of Monroe City; Mary Ann Brinkley; Brandy Hurt; Joachim Knill and Connie Stephens, of Hannibal, in the Adult Division; and Abby White, of Louisiana, in the Youth Division.

Entries for the fourth annual ART IN THE OPEN billboard contest are being accepted now through Friday, Sept. 1. Complete guidelines are available at hannibalarts.com under Gallery/ART IN THE OPEN. Youth ages eight to 17 and professional and non-professional artists 18 years of age or older who live within a 50-mile radius of Hannibal are invited to submit images of original works for ART IN THE OPEN. The project is a collaborative project of the Hannibal Arts Council, Independent’s Service Company and Lamar Outdoor Advertising.
